Design Post 9 Daniel Lieman

The schema has been almost completely helpful.  It has helped keep me on track in my writing.  It also serves as a good checklist on what to include.  The only annoying thing about XML was that the oxygen editor doesn’t deal with implied line breaks the way I would like it to, so I need to manually insert them so I don’t end up with 400 character lines in my document.  I found group work was more helpful as we could each use our strengths to help others with their weaknesses.  For example I had strengths with XML and weaknesses with the design entry.  I feel like I met my deadlines better on this schedule.   Choosing the exact rhetorical situation to use the model on was the hardest part.  There weren’t many Co-Op jobs on the Northeastern site yet and I ended up going with something I found on LinkedIn that I wasn’t particularly interested in.

Design Entry 7 Daniel Lieman

I used the schema as a checklist for what to put in my cover letter.  I found it to be appropriate; there wasn’t anything I felt needed to be there that wasn’t in the schema.  The schema was helpful in keeping me on track for the writing.  My partners cover letter was much longer. His was also better fitted to the specific job.  I feel like this was due to our difference in interest for the two jobs.  When reading it I realized we could better clarify the difference between types of experience.  I didn’t feel like this schema was much different than the whole class schema.  When revising the genre model I would like to take another look at the element and attribute definitions.
